News & Events
We will be open for adoptions Sunday, April 9th and Sunday, April 23rd from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
All pets available for adoption have been fully vetted. Each dog or cat is spayed or neutered, micro chipped and up to date on all shots prior to adoption. Animals over 5 years old have a reduced adoption fee of $25.00. All other pets are available for an $80.00 adoption fee.
Adoption applications can be submitted before the adoption event for pre-approval. Completed applications can be emailed to email@example.com or mailed to P.O. Box 4100, Lago Vista, Texas 78645. Applications can also be picked up and dropped off at the door of the shelter. There is a black mail box on the left side of the door of the shelter that is checked daily. If completed applications are approved before the adoption event day, the pet can go home the day of the event. If applications are received the same day of the adoption event, please allow 48 hours. Adoptions are based on the best match, not on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Has a photo of a particular dog or cat tugged on your heartstrings? Would you like to get to know that animal a little better and contribute to his or her care here at the shelter? For a small monthly donation you can virtually adopt that animal! We will send you an information package with a photo of the pet, how they came to live at the shelter, their birthday, and what they like to do during the day. Once or twice a year we will also send out an update on the pet. You can come down to the shelter to meet the pet and get your photo taken with him or her, or bring them a special toy or blanket or some treats. If the pet finds its forever home we will notify you right away so you may transfer your donation to another pet at the shelter. To get started just select a dog or cat, choose the sponsorship level, and click on the Sponsorship button on the animal’s profile page.

We are always looking for more volunteers to help take care of our cats and dogs. Cat care taking involves scooping litterboxes, feeding cats, giving medications, and takes about 2-3 hours. We like to have our cats taken care of in the morning. Dog care taking involves hosing down dog kennels, feeding, giving medications, and walking. There are 2 shifts - 7am and 5pm. The morning shift is very intense and takes about 6 hours, while the evening shift only takes about 2 hours. There is also an opportunity to walk dogs starting at 11am. YOU MUST BE 18 OR OVER TO VOLUNTEER WITH US. NO EXCEPTIONS. Contact us for other volunteer opportunities.
If interested in volunteering please fill out an application at http://lifelongfriends.org/uploads/documents/volunteer-application.pdf
