I'm a very laid back black kitty with a loving attitude. I've never met a stranger. I will treat you like I've known you my whole life. I would prefer to be someone's one and only cat.
Who are they? They are the dogs and cats in black. What is their mission? To find their forever home.
Black cats and dogs everywhere are donning their dark glasses and engaging their “flashy things” to wipe out the myths and stereotypes about black animals during Back in Black 2, a national adoption promotion.
Supported by national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society®, about 100 animal rescue groups and shelters across the country including Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions in Lago Vista are participating. Last year, the Back in Black adoption event was introduced to showcase black dogs and cats and give them the best chance at being adopted. More than 900 pets found homes nationwide.
This year, Agent D (Dog) and Agent C (Cat) at Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions and the rest of their furry super agents are ready to show off their personalities and dashing good looks to prospective adopters during "Back in Black 2" adoption promotion.
Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions is holding a “Back in Black,” promotion between May 1 and May 31 to highlight adorable, adoptable black dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. During this time, adoptions fees for both black cats and black dogs will be only $25.
“Even though they do make wonderful pets with great personalities, black dogs and cats are often overlooked for adoption, but why is that? After all, the color of a pet's fur has no relationship to their ability to provide unconditional love, companionship and devotion,” said Andrea Phillips, Executive Director or Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions. “True it can be a bit of a challenge getting a good photo of a black cat or dog which is all the more reason to come meet them at Lifelong Friends and find out what makes our pets in black special.
We need your help to keep our promise to Janet. We gave Janet our word that we would take care of all her four legged friends and find them homes. We made her that promise and several days later Janet passed away after fighting hard to survive Breast Cancer. We miss Janet more than anyone will ever know and a day does not past where you hear her voice talking to the cats or feel her presence at the shelter where she spent much of her life over the last 12 years.
We need your help to make Janet's wish come true. Janet fell ill with Breast Cancer almost a year ago, and was not able to carry on her many volunteer duties for the animal shelter. She wrote our grants and did our fundraising so as you can imagine that created a huge hole in our organization. We DO NOT receive any State or City funds but operate on fundraisers and donations. No amount is too small. To donate online please click here, or mail to:
